Earth Day '09

Say It Green! had the privilege of participating in the U of U's Jewish Community Center's first Earth Day event which was yesterday and ran from 7:00 pm to 9:30pm.

Say It Green set up a booth that had Earth Day shirts and coupons, and the event provided from some great networking as well. However, the highlight of the event had to be the showing of "Who killed the Electric Car" which showed the sudden rise and just as sudden fall of the Electric Car EV1 that GM created in the 90's. The movie does a great job showing how sustainable initiatives need more than just consumer support to succeed, citing the Federal Government, lobbying groups, and anti-capitalism as guilty members of those who killed the electric car.

A panel discussion was held afterward and it looks like Say It Green! may be looking into building their own electric car soon as we talked to some local Utah business men and women that would be willing to help with the relatively simple conversion.

Either way, I would highly recommend the film to anyone interested wanting to learn how the Electric car rose and crumbled in less then 10 years. It also has some great "what not to do's" in it from a marketing standpoint which caught my attention.

Anyways, I hope you all had a great Earth Day and were able to celebrate it outside.

Peace and remember to Say It Green!
